Look mom, I’m a pilot! and a movie director, a ship captain and a chef.
Posted By ShoutCarolina,Date: 08.21.2008“What you want to be when you grow up?” How many times will kids hear this question? Well it’s OK to ask, dream, and play at The Sandbox Children’s Museum, the place to go with young kids in Hilton Head.
Children can pretend to fly over the Atlantic Ocean in a real airplane cockpit and a mini passengers area. Take off, land, buckle up or order some drinks. Here is a tip! the leather seats are quite comfortable in case you need a secluded place to rest.
Cook like Emeril, paint like Picasso, climb Mt. Everest (watch out for the Dragons!), build like Bob the Builder, or fight pirates on the Adventure ship.
My little girl enjoyed the most being a puppet movie director. She can be very bossy…made me go through several takes…Steven Spielberg in the making?!
• For a super fun family day trip go to Sea Pines Resort. Here you can climb the Harbour Town Lighthouse, see the baby alligator at Nature Center, horseback ride through the lushes Sea Pines Forest Reserve and even chase ghosts at the Baynard Ruins.($5 admission to Sea Pines, $3 Harbour Town Lighthouse, $60 horseback rides, $20-$50 kayak tours and dolphin cruises)
• Learn about the Hilton Head island history, the rich Gullah culture and sign up for some fun family programs at the Coastal Discovery Museum (free museum admission; guided tours, cruises and beach walks are $5-$30)

Is there something fun for older kids to do at Sandbox? Sounds like a nice place to take your kids. I’m not sure if a 10 year old boy will enjoy it.
Thanks
