Saluda Shoals is a state of the art park nestled along scenic Saluda River.

I visited it last week with my daughter to see Unearth, A Celebration of Naturally Inspired Art.
Daily park admission is $4R/$5NR for cars and minivans (annual pass is $45R/$58NR, resident fees refer to Lexington-Richland 5 area).

At the Coastal Discovery Museum in Hilton Head you can see delicate butterflies undergo an incredible metamorphosis from caterpillar to chrysalis to adulthood. About six native species are currently displayed, all grown within the habitat: Monarch, Gulf Fritillary, Zebra Longwing, Black Swallowtail, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and Cloudless Sulphur.

The Swan Lake and Iris Gardens began in 1927 as a private retreat for local businessman Hamilton Carr Bland. At the time, he was landscaping his home with Japanese iris. The bulbs failed miserably and were dumped in the swamp. The following spring, they burst into bloom.
