My favorite South Carolina beach is Cherry Grove, minutes from North Myrtle Beach yet far from the hustle and bustle of the Grand Strand. During Thanksgiving holiday weekend, my daughter and I spent a delightful afternoon inside the picturesque Cheraw State Park (one of the largest in South Carolina), located minutes from the historic downtown. Admission is free. The park is open year around 7AM to 6PM (9PM in the summer). Office hours are 11AM-5PM daily.
